About Harold Ernest Reynolds

It is with extremely heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Harold “Ernie” Reynolds. Ernie passed away suddenly on July 29, 2026 in Gilbert, AZ. He is survived by his mother, Martha (Kauffman), his sister Suzanna (Fitzgerald) along with his loving wife Katherine, and their adult children, Andrew and Alyssa.

Ernie was originally from Stanford, Illinois where he attended Olympia High School. As a young adult, Ernie then joined the Army where he was a member of Special Forces Airborne (Green Beret) in the 1st of the 10th Special Forces Group. While in the army, Ernie developed a strong work ethic, and he was instilled with the values of honor, courage and commitment which continued to define the rest of his life.

After the military, he returned to Illinois to complete an associate degree in Information Technology. In 1997, Ernie married the love of his life, Katherine, and they began their future together.

Ernie enjoyed a career spanning over 30 years in the IT field with the most recent 20 years with State Farm Insurance as a Software Engineer. His position with State Farm brought the family out to Arizona over 12 years ago.

Ernie was a devoted husband, father and friend, and all who knew him knew of his love for mashed potatoes. He was a passionate computer gamer throughout his life and also enjoyed deep sea fishing, golf, and spending time with his family.

Ernie was preceded in death by his father, Harold F. Reynolds and his grandparents, Russell and Marie Kauffman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ernie’s name to Dogs4Vets.org in Gilbert AZ. (www.dogs4vets.org )
