About Christopher Grant Hatch

Christopher Grant Hatch, 53, passed away on April 22, 2026, in his home.

Chris was born on February 24, 1973, in DeWitt, Iowa, to Patrick and Margaret Hatch. When he was 10 months old, his family moved from Iowa to San Marcos, California, where Chris grew up and built lifelong friendships. Although he was an only child, Chris remained close with his extended neighborhood family in San Marcos, including many friends and families who became an important part of his life.

Chris worked for 19 years at Bank of America as an Assistant Vice President, Sr. Systems Engineer. Before beginning his career in technology, he served for nearly eight years as a firefighter with the Valley Center Fire Department. His time in the fire service was one of the great loves of his life, and he took deep pride in those years of service. Although he later chose a different career path, he continued to live vicariously through his brothers in the fire service and always held that community close to his heart.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Margaret Hatch. He is survived by his two beloved sons, Aidan Grant Hatch and Declan Thomas Hatch. More than anything, Chris was incredibly proud of his sons and the bright futures ahead of them.

Chris will be remembered for the life he built, the friendships he carried through the years, his pride in serving others and the deep love he had for Aidan and Declan.

A memorial service honoring Chris’s life will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Gilbert Memorial Park in Gilbert, Arizona.

There will be a Reception to follow at : Culinary Dropout Gilbert Heritage District, located at 383 North Gilbert Road, Gilbert, AZ 85234, 480-304-4102, in The Heritage Room.

My heart is broken that you’re gone. I miss you every single day. I can’t stop thinking about you and all the silly things we shared. Please be with Aidan and Declan as their journey continues without you. I know how enormously proud you are of them. I will love you ALWAYS and FOREVER. I’ll see you in my dreams…

This still feels surreal. I met Chris in 4th grade and was surprised when he made a point to greet me, talk to me and introduce me around. He had so much knowledge about so many different things- he'd be the first to say he wasn't that smart but being humble was his way. I'm glad we kept in touch as adults- I will miss his mischievous smile and his warm presence. The world surely is poorer without him. Years ago when I was going through a very difficult time, he made it easier with his Midwestern common sense, humor and empathy. I still remember how he "squeeeeee!"d when he met my Chihuahua. He talked about Aidan and Declan often and was so proud to be their Dad. He was a good friend, and a good man. I offer my heartfelt condolences and to Aidan and Declan and the rest of his family.

Chris, where do I start Bro! You truly were like we would say my brother from another mother. Every crazy funny or just plain stupid idea memory I have growing up you were in it. I truly am proud to call you, my friend. I am so heartbroken that you are gone. It kills me to know that I can’t call you like I would and you answer the phone with your same old, smart ass what’s up F$&@er? What I would do to hear that one more time! Everybody who knew you loved you. You definitely were the nice guy out of our tribe of buddies. Always wanting to help always wanting to make somebody feel good! I always loved listening to you brag about Aidan and Declan and getting to witness them grow into the amazing men that they are today has been awesome! You know I pretty much knew that when I moved to Arizona from San Diego. It wouldn’t be long before you would be here because I knew you would miss me too much and you couldn’t live without me! You never would admit that, but I know deep down I’m right! LOL but damn dude I’m gonna miss you! And just know that Aidan and Declan will always have their Uncle Dude whenever they need him!!!! I love you, brotha I truly hope you know that!

Chris was one of the good guys. Someone to call a friend. Someone to look up to. Someone that worked hard for everything he had. Chris was the type of guy that would come up to you from a distance just to say hi and share his friendly smile. Knowing Chris from the early 90’s on, he was consistent with kindness, humor, and his trademark squinty grin. I’m sure his boys will carry on the goodness that he brought to all. Rest in Paradise, Brother.
